Pain. Ball.

Ok Streamyx is throwing a tantrum (international link/routing issue) again so I have to make this post a filler instead of a full one.

Coming soon...Pain(t)ball session at TT Sports Part, 27th Oct 2007!

The markers! (Picture courtesy of Tippmann)

The action!

The babes! (YK's gang)

And on a totally unrelated note, here's the Punto I saw at Midvalley Megamall on 27th!
(Picture shown might not be the same as the actual product)

I'll probably do a full post once Streamyx is back to normal. Right now uploading pictures to Blogger is a real pain in the posterior. Laterz!

Dec 2 approaches!

Yes! Dec 2! The day which will live on forever! The day where I will participate in the Standard Chartered Singapore International Marathon! YES!

However unlike my two runner compatriots Wei Siong (42 km) and Andy (21 km) I shall only be participating in the 10 km (paiseh) category.

Still this is the first time I'm running in an actual international event held in another country! Yeah I know it's only Singapore but Singapore is another country no? =P

Singapore here I come!

Tai chow! Tai chow!

A tai chow (Cantonese), literally translated into English as 'big fry' restaurant actually means that the place serves a variety of dishes. Dishes which are all fried on those huge cast iron woks. Hence the 'big fry' term.

Whenever I have the hankering for some good ol' fashioned 'tai chow', this is the place I normally head to. Behold! Restoran Sentosa!

The signboard says all

We always start with tea

Claypot taufoo

Smooth taufoo combined with mixed vegetables, prawns and muk yee (wood ear?) fungus make for a very enjoyable eating experience. The gravy wasn't too thick and the prawns although small were very fresh.

Stewed pork with muk yee

The pork chunks were tender and flavorful. The crunchy fungus provided a nice contrast to the soft meat. I wished they would add more fungus slices though. However, if you're adverse to fatty meat this might not be the dish to order.

Fish slices (yee pin) with bitter gourd

I always order this dish whenever I'm here. Somehow the fresh fish taste goes very well with bitter gourd. And when I say fresh fish, I mean really really fresh. The fact that they use wan yee (not sure of the English name, freshwater fish though) gets two thumbs up from me since it's not exactly a cheap fish. Most restaurants prefer to use saltwater fish which aren't that smooth. Of course if you are allergic to bitter gourd, you can always choose a different style of cooking.

They have many dishes to choose from. If in doubt, just ask boss for recommendations. Service is prompt. Go early though as the restaurant tends to fill up quick during dinner time.

However don't expect the environment to be as good as say, Overseas or Tai Thong. Expect loud patrons, people smoking and stray dogs/cats walking around. The restaurant is located in a new village after all.

Total damage comes up to RM33 for 3 persons. And the portions can feed 4 actually if the people in your group don't eat that much. What can I say? It's cheap! I hereby give this place a rating of 8/10! Just...well...ignore the environment of the place.

Now...for directions...heading towards 1-U via LDP from Sunway, take the first turning to your left immediately upon passing St. Ignatius Church on your left. Go straight all the way until you come to a roundabout. Take the 12 o'clock exit and head straight down until you see a corner coffee shop on your right (this will be the second coffee shop you pass on your right). Upon seeing the coffee shop immediately turn to your right, go straight and turn right on the first right turn. You might want to look for parking now because the restaurant is just further down this street on your right.

Complicated I know. But certainly worth the effort for some wholesome food. Don't you think so?

Happy Birthday to me...happy birthday to me...

Yes yes I know that my actual birthday isn't on October 13th. But isn't it much much more enjoyable to hold a BBQ party on a weekend instead of a weekday? =P

But first I would like to apologise for the lack of pictures. Everybody was busy eating. Hence there are no photos of me at the grill (not that I have l33t sKillZ at grilling anyway). Enjoy!

In the beginning there was no fire...

Grill grill grill the chicken wings

And the sausages too!

Andrew: Poke poke poke...I think it's done?

Dinner is served!

You have to pull it like this!

L33T Grill Mastah Andrew!

Chris: It is good indeed!

Boon Tsean: Yessssss?
Leonard: Mmmmmmm!

Which one is longer?

Wait...that's not a cigar!

Sausage cigar is good (NCC in house joke)

Birthday song time!

The cake! Cut the cake already!

Cheese! Not cheesecake though

And the cake is cut!

I really had a grand time. The last time I actually had a BBQ birthday party was way back in 1997 during my KBU days. 10 years ago! Imagine that!

I like to thank all my good friends who came. Also, much much thanks for all their kickarse gifts! Now...what should I organise for next year's party eh?

Thank God It's Friday!

So I was at T.G.I.Fridays last Friday (yeah yeah I know, the coincidence) and I couldn't miss the opportunity to do a little food review on the place.

Yes I was at the Subang Parade branch!

My drink - filled with crushed Oreos. It was good.

Let the appetizers begin! The shrimp martini was sour and refreshing but there were only four shrimps...

Mac N' Cheese which even my mum praised for being that good!

Beef ribs, full of beefy goodness! Also tender!

Fish & Chips. Huge portions!

Strip steak (medium rare) and shrimp combo for me. Expensive, but worth it!

Check out the juicy steak!

It is juicy indeed!

Fresh crunchy shrimps!

Dessert is upon us! Cookies & Cream...didn't have the stomach space to try this but I've heard good things!

The signature Mud Pie. Very, very good. Need I say more?

Overall rating = 8.5/10. Sure the food is on the expensive side, but the portions more than make up for it. Service was sweet too. Now I'll have to go try Chilies (not sure of the correct spelling) to see how it stacks up against T.G.I.Fridays.

Ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha...(fade to black)
