Cheap cars in Malaysia? Fuck yes!

Here's another attempt at posting a pseudo-political intellectual blog post. Or some shit like that.

As quoted in the Star Online (19th July 2006):

The sale of cars confiscated by the Customs Department to “special people” should be scrapped and replaced with public auctions to prevent abuse of power.

This is the conclusion of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Integrity after meeting with Jasin MP Mohd Said Yusof yesterday and Customs director-general Datuk Abdul Rahman Abdul Hamid last week.

No shit! That's what the people want anyway! An arrangement that is fair for all!

And then it goes on to say

Dompok said the department disposed of the vehicles in four ways – open tender, donation to institutions of higher learning, sale as scrap and sale to certain individuals such as senior civil servants close to retiring, MPs, assemblymen and palace contacts.

In the case brought up by the Jasin MP, he said, the department’s discretionary powers had been abused.

“We suggest that the last category be scrapped and replaced by public auctions as it is possible for the system to be misused,” he said.

So for those of you craving for Contis (Mercedes, Beemers) at cheap prices, your time is now.

Can you people say "CHEAP CARS ARE IN THE HOUSE!" now?

Guess we have to wait and see don't we?
